CD Carousel
Thank you for trying out CD Carousel. To upgrade to this version, from
versions prior to 1.3c The following change must be performed.
1. A file count is appended to the end of the file description in the files.bbs.
This is used by the registered version to keep track of downloaded files.
CD Carousel will not work properly without it. So, in order to upgrade to this
version, you will have to add a file count to any file descriptions currently
in your CD Carousel file request download directory.
Example:
CDCAR13E.ZIP CD Carousel Door, a GREAT ofline CD request door for MAX. 1
^
Skip a space and add a "1" to the existing description ___|
This need only be done if you have existing files at the time of upgrade,
once every description in the files.bbs has a file count, CD Carousel will
take over from there and you needn't bother with it again.
*********** Upgrade from ALL versions ***************
1. All .cmd and .cfg files must be replaced.
2. This version of CD Carousel now supports Privileges and locks. In order
to accomplish this, since the Max/2 files.bbs doesn't support it, CD Carousel
creates a non-standard files.bbs. The file listing presented to the user is
indistinguishable from a Max/2 files.bbs. Unfortunately, the only way to
upgrade is to delete everything in your requested files download directory,
including the files.* files.
3. This version of CD Carousel now supports Privileges and locks. These are
automatically added to DISK.LST by CD Carousel when the Setup option is run.
Since you already have a DISK.LST in your default CD Carousel directory, you
must manually enter this information.
The format is:
priv lock disk [description]
so your's might look like this:
Simtel20 May 93 version of this great shareware disk
and you should change it to this:
3 1 Simtel20 May 93 version of this great shareware disk
The above line will set the Simtel20 disk to a privilege of Normal and the
1 (one) key required for access.
The privilege levels are as follows:
Sysop = 10
AsSysop = 9
Clerk = 8
Extra = 7
Favoried= 6
Privil = 5
Worthy = 4
Normal = 3
Limited = 2
Disgrace= 1
Twit = 0
You must also either enter a KEY between 1 and 8 OR enter a percent sign "%"
to hold the place for no key, like this:
3 % Simtel20 May 93 version of this great shareware disk
The above line will set the Simtel20 disk to a privilege of Normal and No keys
required.
Please read the section in CDCar.doc which pertains to Privilegs and Locks.
4. The other big change is the addition of the program, CDUpdate.cmd.* Please
read the appropriate section in CDCar.doc for instructions as to it's use, as
it's syntax has changed from previous versions. * Registered versions only
5. If you have problems, it's best to delete everything and start over.
Thanks again,
Bill
